However, this still places Alabama eighth in the nation for both the total number of power outages and the percentage of customers affected, according to data compiled by PowerOutage.us. Montgomery County remains the hardest hit, with 9,440 customers currently without power, and 8.3% of customers affected. Alabama Power reports the largest number of outages, with 18,418 customers without electricity, while Pioneer Electric Cooperative has the highest percentage of customers affected, with 18.35% of its customers currently without power. As restoration efforts continue, utility crews remain deployed across the state. In the meantime, officials urge residents to take precautions during the power outages, including never using generators or grills indoors, using space heaters safely, checking on elderly neighbors and those with medical needs, and keeping pets indoors and dressed in layers.
