Ferrell’s Clothing Finds a New Home – Again
In a move that’s become something of a tradition, Ferrell’s Clothing Store has relocated for the third time in its storied history. This time, the beloved men’s apparel shop has set up shop near the Grand Teton Mall, specifically at 2261 East 17th Street in Idaho Falls, in what was once the Seagull Book location. The store officially opened its doors on Monday, marking a new chapter in its long-standing legacy.
Owners Dana and Teneal Wright shared with EastIdahoNews.com that this relocation was driven by a desire for a more customer-friendly space. “We needed a bit more room for our sales floor and less for storage,” Dana explained. The new 5,400-square-foot location offers just that, a slight adjustment from their previous 5,500-square-foot space at 3194 South 25th East, where the back room was disproportionately large.
But here’s where it gets interesting: Another key factor in the move was improving accessibility. Dana noted that the previous location’s single entrance and required U-turn deterred some customers. “This new spot has better traffic flow, with multiple entrances and exits, making it far more convenient for everyone,” he added.
Ferrell’s has long been a go-to destination for young men preparing for missions with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, thanks to its extensive selection of dress suits. But here’s a teaser: Dana revealed that suit rentals are on the horizon, a service customers have been requesting for years. Could this be a game-changer for the store? Only time will tell.
And this is the part most people miss: Ferrell’s in-house tailor, Kristi Eldridge of In Stitches Alterations, has seamlessly transitioned to the new location, ensuring customers continue to receive top-notch tailoring services.
A bit of history: Ferrell’s first opened its doors in 1950, originally located where Destinations Inn now stands. It later moved to 417 West Broadway, where it operated for 68 years before the 2019 relocation to South 25th East. Teneal, who grew up working in the store, and Dana purchased the business from her father, Brent Tueller, in 2018. The Broadway building was sold to local contractor Jayce Powell in 2019, who remodeled it. Recently, it was acquired by Justin and Valerie Miller under Rare Earth Enterprises LLC, though their plans for the space remain under wraps.
Dana is thrilled about the new location, particularly its proximity to complementary businesses. “Being next to Work Wear House and Bob’s Indoor Golf creates a hub for men’s needs,” he said. The Wrights worked with Randy Waters of SVN High Desert Commercial to secure the space and are planning a grand re-opening in April. Store hours remain unchanged: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
