Ben Johnson, the coach of the Chicago Bears, is embracing the cold weather forecast for the upcoming game against the Rams. With temperatures expected to drop to around 20 degrees and a chance of snow, Johnson is confident that his team will thrive in the harsh conditions.
"I like the cold," Johnson stated, "I do like the cold." He believes that the cold weather could provide an advantage for his team, which is based in Chicago, over the Rams, who are from Los Angeles. Johnson acknowledges that the Rams' quarterback, Matthew Stafford, has a history of performing well in cold games, but he remains optimistic about his team's ability to adapt.
Johnson shares a unique approach to preparing his players for cold-weather games. During his time as the offensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions, he practiced outside, even though their home field had an indoor facility. He explains, "When I was in Detroit, you're outside to start with, and it's usually pretty cold this time of year, so you could practice outside and try to acclimate yourself as much as you can."
However, Johnson is curious about how the Rams will simulate the cold-weather conditions. He wonders, "I think that's a good question for them, how they feel about that." Johnson hopes that the Rams' players from Southern California will feel uncomfortable playing in Chicago's January weather, giving his team an edge in the game.
